Good Morning everyone!!
I just want to share my camping trip that was this last weekend. We, my husband and I went to Bow Willow campground. I met my husband down there. He left a day early to get the site that we like. I headed out Friday after work. I got there a little before dark so had time to unload the wood out of my truck and set up the fire to so we could have a fire.
It got pretty cold so the fire was a nice touch. As we sat around the fire we saw these baby mice running around. Then we saw a couple bigger ones. Come to find out they were Kangaroo mice which are on the endangered species list. They all had the little fur tuft on the end of their tails. They were so cute but it was a little freaky when they ran across your feet. We of coarse were wearing sandals. One of them even tried to go up my pant leg. Yikes!!! It was great to see them there trying to make a comeback. They certainly weren’t very afraid. We had little Chipmunks running around in the day time looking for hand outs. We had peanuts of course.
Anyway, we woke up the next morning. We had breakfast, bacon and eggs. Food always taste better out in nature I think. At about 10:30 we headed to Bow Willow canyon. There had been a flash flood so we wanted to see the changes that it made. All the plants and vegetation were so green. The Bow Willow trees were so beautiful. Shiny green with the sunlight coming thru the leaves. They had seed pods hanging off of them. Some even had little purple flowers still hanging on. We hiked in quite far. We were hoping to see water closer to the camp. But had already went underground. We were also wanting to see Big Horn sheep but no such luck this time around. We have seen them several times this last year. How magnificent they are. It was pretty hot out there so we decided to head back to camp. When we got back it was about 2:30 pm. I looked at my device and it said we hiked at least 8 miles. Wow, what a good workout. Sure has been awhile since we did that hike.
We had a fire and cooked Steak, baked potatoes, roasted garlic and steamed mushrooms. It was so delicious that we ate everything. Well, it could have been that we were starving from our hike earlier. We sat around the fire watching the stars, which were incredible and the Kangaroo mice playing around our feet. What a wonderful evening. We got up and took our time packing so we could enjoy the morning as long as possible.
P.S. I just wanted to share this trip with you since I couldn’t at the time!!!
